Asthma
Overview
Asthma is a chronic disease that causes inflammation and narrowing of the airways. This can make it very difficult for air to flow out of your airways when you breathe out. Asthma can affect people of all ages. Patients with asthma may experience wheezing, chest tightness, coughing, and shortness of breath.
While there is no cure for asthma, avoiding triggers and taking specific medications can help to alleviate symptoms and reduce the amount and severity of asthma attacks. The treatments available for asthma include inhaled, oral, and injectable medications.
